The White Stripes - release their new single 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself' in the UK on Monday the 1st of September 2003. This is the White Stripes' rendition of the Bacharach/David classic, performed in Jack and Meg's own inimitable style. The single also features a number of exclusive tracks including 'Who's To Say' (written by former bandmate Dan Miller, currently of Detroit band, Blanche), live radio versions of favourites 'Lafayette Blues' and 'I'm Finding It Harder To Be A Gentleman' + filmed live footage of an incendiary 'Black Math', from the band's recent hometown show at The Masonic Temple in Detroit.

Seven Nation Army won the Best International Video By a Group in the recent Much Music Awards. Apparently, the dup 'taped an acceptance speech which alternated two men in black suits behind them, mixed with the members of Whirlwind Heat in the three monkeys pose (hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil). Jack then described how they grew up a couple of blocks away from Canada and how it's very special to them 'for all you know' It is also known via The Little Room that Jack played the Seven Nation Army riff on the mandolin.Read about sweethearts, fake punks, dinner at country legend Loretta Lynn's house, and Justin Timberlake from Jack and Meg at New York's Central Park Zoo. With Kurt Loder of course.

More hot news from the White Stripes offices at XL headquarters:
http://www.xlrecordings.com/thewhitestripes You, the record-buying public, rock! The White Stripes' new album 'Elephant' stampeded straight into the UK album charts at number one and into the US charts at number 6. The album was recorded in a brief two-week stint at Liam Watson's Toe Rag studio in London, with no equipment dating past the epochal year of 1963. The NME are hailing it as 'some of the most obliteratingly brilliant rock'n'roll of our time'... find out for yourself. 'Seven Nation Army' will be the first single to come from 'Elephant'. The single will be released on 21st April in the UK - and deleted on the same day. The video for 'Seven Nation Army' is spectacular - you can take a look in RealVideo on the XL website. UK radio is sounding particularly white-striped at the moment. Jack and Meg did an interview with Jo Whiley from BBC Radio One and it's online now at:

White Stripes are proud to present their fourth album, Elephant, to the American public on April 1st...no joke. The record will be available in the UK one day earlieir on March 31st. The Japanese people get the biggest treat with a release date of March 19th.
The Stripes have lots planned for this new record. Besides posing for wax figurines at Madame Tussaud's in London, they will play some shows. The shows will have dates...but unfortunately i'm told that too many are “tentative” to make any announcements just yet. Don't hate the messenger, just hate the message. Let me assure you that they will be some awesome dates, like a friday, a saturday, and maybe even a wednesday thrown in for fun.
The first single of Elephant is the song Seven Nation Army . Only the hippest radio stations in the country are playing it. If you don't hear it, bug whatever DJ who has the worst on-air name like Pubert or Porky and don't stop calling until you hear it.
As for the Elephant album itself, the Stripes pulled all the stops and made it a double LP for wider, deeper grooves that results in a better listening experience for you, the skeptical music consumer. There will also be six, count em, SIX (6!) different album covers. When arranged in a proper pattern, they tell you where to find the third sword in Zelda. Seriously.
