The White Stripes have just confirmed that they will be playing two Christmas shows this season. Jack and Meg will be spreading Christmas cheer on December 9th at Live 105's Not So Silent Night at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco as well as on December 11th at KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas at Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles, CA.

Due to unsafe stage conditions, The White Stripes were forced to stop their performance 13 songs into their set at the Olympic Beach Volleyball Stadium in Athens, Greece. Heavy winds caused the trusses holding the lights to bend, risking collapse of the lighting and the stage itself. After two attempts to secure the trusses and stage, as well as a resulting injury to a valued crew member, The White Stripes were forced to stop their performance. We apologize to our Greek fans however, audience, crew and band safety are paramount to The White Stripes and never worth risking.
Jack and Meg will be playing a show at the Glass House in Pomona, California on July 28th. Tickets will go on sale at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 12th at the Glass House box office only (no ticketmaster). MTV is scheduled to air an exclusive hour-long special presentation produced by The White Stripes and filmed at the historic Teatro Amazones in Manaus, Brazil. "MTV LIVE: THE WHITE STRIPES (BRAZIL)" will include both live performance and backstage footage.
The White Stripes played to frenzied crowds at Teatro Amazones, an old opera house in the middle of the Amazon jungle. The performance is now famous for the fan uprising that ensued when Jack and Meg took the show outdoors to play to the hundreds of fans that were unable to get tickets.

Karen Elson and Jack White were married yesterday on the confluence of three rivers - the Rio Negro, the Solimones, and the Amazon - in the Amazon basin in the city of Manaus, Brazil. They were married by a traditional Shaman priest on a canoe at the exact point where the three rivers meet. The bride and groom were accompanied by a small party of close friends. The best man was Ian Montone. Meg White was the maid of honor. The ceremony was immediately followed by a blessing by a priest at a Catholic Cathedral called Igreja Matric in the historical city of Manaus. This was the first marriage for both newlyweds.

The White Stripes will release their fifth album, titled Get Behind Me Satan, on June 6th in the UK/Europe and June 7th in the US. This new album was recorded in Detroit at Jack's Third Man Studios, mixed in Memphis at Ardent Studios and mastered in New York City at Masterdisk.
The album contains 13 original songs, all of them written on piano, acoustic guitar and marimba. The first single is "Blue Orchid," you will be able to purchase it at your local record store on May 30th (UK) and May 31st (US).
Jack describes this record as an exploration of "characters and the ideal of truth."
