The White Stripes have been busy making a video for "Conquest", their third single. Directed by prolific music videographer Diane Martel, the video was shot over two days in Artesia, California. Filmed with a visual urgency that brings the song's Spanish themes, frantic horns and compulsive pounding rhythm to life, the video follows an explosive - if unconventional - love story that pits man against bull in the ultimate conquest. To make his performance as authentic as possible, Jack White trained extensively with famed bullfighter Dennis Borba. The video will premiere on MTV on November 26th and will be available on iTunes from November 27th.
"Conquest" will also be released as a single; stunningly packaged and featuring three exclusive new tracks across three 7" vinyl formats - one black, one white and one red colored vinyl. Jack and Meg recently recorded the new tracks with Beck, who co-produced all three tracks during a recording session in his living room and also contributed vocals and piano to "It's My Fault For Being Famous" and slide guitar on "Honey, We Can't Afford To Look This Cheap".
Inspired by the "Conquest" video, each single will also include a Mondo Toro trading card featuring the legendary, near-mythical matadors El Sloth, El Blanca Rosa and El Perdedor. Despite being from early 1900's Spain and Portugal, these bullfighters look strangely familiar. US copies of these singles will also include a different poster with each release.
These vinyl singles will be released in the US on December 18th and in the UK on December 31st. Full track listings are listed below:

It Might Get Loud tells the personal stories, in their own words, of three generations of electric guitar virtuosos – The Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack White. It reveals how each developed his unique sound and style of playing favorite instruments, guitars both found and invented. Concentrating on the artist's musical rebellion, traveling with him to influential locations, provoking rare discussion as to how and why he writes and plays, this film lets you witness intimate moments and hear new music from each artist. The movie revolves around a day when Jimmy Page, Jack White, and The Edge first met and sat down together to share their stories, teach and play.
Don't miss seeing Jack White in this Davis Guggenheim directed documentary that opens in select theaters in Los Angeles and New York on August 14th, with further showings in theaters across the US after that. View the trailer, see photos and read further info about the film at itmightgetloudmovie.com
The White Stripes celebrated their aluminum anniversary on the 14th of July in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. To further commemorate this occasion, the band have produced an array of specialty merchandise including traditional kilts, balmoral hats, kilt hose and flashes. These items are all hand-made from the Official Tartan of The White Stripes, available in both hunting and dress fabric.
Rob Jones also designed a beautiful poster for the Savoy Theatre performance. One hundred posters were printed on paper while another one hundred were printed on sheets of aluminum.
The band have lots of other new and exciting things on the way - be sure to visit the merch table when you come see them play!

Dear candy cane children,
The White Stripes are announcing that the "single note performance" in Newfoundland will be their last secret/side/B show for quite sometime. Every free performance was a success on the brink of disaster, and the band regrettably must retire them for the time being... undefeated! The Stripes did their best to ensure that fans of the band knew about the shows before anyone else, and are very happy for those who were able to find out and attend. The fans have been very supportive and aiding in the events, and Jack and Meg are gleeful by the way the shows have been received. But alas, before the performances become expected, or people start the inevitable misunderstanding of the true purpose of them (or worse), The Stripes feel it wise to keep these experiences memorable, and not let them turn perfunctory. Thanks to all who helped.
The venue in Anchorage, Alaska has been changed to the George M. Sullivan Sports Arena so that the band could accommodate more of their fans. If you've already purchased tickets to this show at the William A. Egan Civic Center do not fear, your tickets will be honored at the new venue for GA Floor tickets.
Be sure to check out the web store for new arrivals. We just added two new t-shirts, guitar tablature books for White Blood Cells and Elephant as well as making the USB ports available to customers in Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Enjoy!

The best way for us to do that is ensure that we perform in every province and territory in the country, from the Yukon to Prince Edward Island. Another special moment of this tour is the show which will occur in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on July 14th, The White Stripes’ Tenth Anniversary” -Jack White

With unbridled enthusiasm for the June release of 'Icky Thump', various publications and web sites have posted a North American tour routing that holds no semblance of reality. Indeed, it looks like their journalists simply found and printed the tour routing the band did in support of their 2005 release, 'Get Behind Me Satan'.
In fact, The White Stripes have yet to confirm their North American routing as of yet. But we are happy to say that it will include all 10 provinces and 3 territories of Canada, as well as the remaining 16 states of the United States the band have yet to play. A few major markets that have been journeyed to in the past will be also be included.
The North American tour will start in the state of Tennessee.
Best Regards,
The White Stripes Management

Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park.
Hello to all the Candy Cane Children in the land,
The White Stripes have completed the recording and mixing of their sixth album. It is entitled:
"Icky Thump"
and is their first album to include a title track, which curiously (and not ironically) has the same words in it's name. Though some residents of northern England might almost recognize the title, The Stripes stress they are spelling it wrong intentionally just for "kicks" and "metaphors", and to avoid a possible lawsuit from the estate of Billy Eckstine.
The record was recorded in Nashville at Blackbird Studio. And word around the sewing circle is that many of your favorite White Stripe type songs may not be your favorite (pronounced favaright) White Stripe type songs for long.
Some song titles include:
Catch Hell Blues
Little Cream Soda
Monkeys Have It Easy (discarded)
Rag And Bone
Clicky Bump (retitled into something pleasant)
Blue Orchid (relocated to previous album)
and
You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)
It was the longest time the delightful duo have ever spent in the studio, totaling almost three weeks. Jack and Meg were said to have been looking like they were "into it almost". And even Meg herself was quoted while leaving a local Nashville laundromat saying that the record was, in her best estimate; "finished", "musical in nature" and lastly, though slightly muffled, "good".
The Stripes will be releasing a statement soon saying: "we are doing our best (whatever that is) to release the album as soon as corporately possible. And though we are tired, worn, weary, hungry, cold, and left without an ounce of nutrition amongst ourselves, we are in the midst of planning performance type shows aroundst the world."
Here now is a short film clip of The Stripes working on a thoroughly rough and ghastly early version of a track from the new album entitled "I'm Slowly Turning Into You"... HI | LO (please allow popups to view links)
(the actual music has been replaced with mid eighties sampling keyboard technology to prevent what industry analysts are now calling "song poaching")
